I really enjoyed Arkham Asylum on PC: it felt like the ultimate super-hero experience, wrapped in excellent story telling and mostly entertaining mini-puzzles involving the Riddler.

I can attempt to outsmart the Riddler and the numerous mini-puzzles he's left all over the game world. I can track down an elusive serial killer as I race against time to find certain phone booths in order to trace his location before he kills another innocent victim. Or better yet, I can play as Catwoman, exploring the city with whip in hand, and with her own set of missions and heists. She's also playable in the game's expanded Challenge Mode, a series of small stages where you are tasked with either surviving 4 levels of attacking thugs, or to clear a stage as stealthily as possible.

And the combat feels good. As Batman, you can now use nearly every gadget in your arsenal as a Freeflow Combat weapon One of my favorites? Leaving behind an explosive gel booby trap as he rolls away. Close quarters and stealth combat now allows for more moves, and unlike the first game where you could probably get away with using just basic attacks and counters, you'll need them all to face a wider variety of thugs.

This idea is best encompassed in a boss fight against Mr. Freeze, where you'll need to use nearly every stealth attack you can to be successful. The only con I can think of right now are the aforementioned DX11 bugs. If the purchase of a game hinges on having the absolute best graphics possible, I would advise you to wait for a patch. For everyone else, this comes highly recommended, and is a serious Game of the Year contender amongst a crop of great games.

I'm willing to take off a star for those bugs, but also willing to add it back on once it's fixed. Those pesky framerate bugs were fixed, albeit for bit users only. The patch also addresses other stability issues, and added an "Extreme" graphical option. Since I use Windows 7 bit, I'm in the clear here.
